I never knew that there were places (homes, institutions or whatever you want to call them) for people who were deaf. Daniel Marando from the diabolically bluesy Maladies sits across from me, staring out the window. Something seems to catch his eye as he turns and waves to an older lady sitting across the room, intently watching the Bold and the Beautiful with closed captions blaring.

Work with Trent Reznor and Dj Shadow produced very few tracks that saw the light of day. Now that the band’s back together it seems De La Rocha has regained his mojo, embarking on a side project as One Day As A Lion.

The Prodigy coming to Australia in 2009

There have been countless rumours exceeded only by countless hopes.  But it seems it has all come true — The Prodigy are coming to Australia in 2009.

I was lucky enough to catch them in 2005 at their Hordern Pavilion show, and I was blown away.  The ferocity, presence and power of the live group was surreal.  I’ve been a fan since I was about 13 and believe they have always been a very innovative group well ahead of their time.

Madonna turns 50 tomorrow.  I’ve never really thought about August 16 until now, but watching a montage (everyone needs a montage) this morning on the Today show made me realise just what an outstanding career life she has had, which continues today.
