Washington was today announced as special guest on Kate Miller-Heidke’s national Last Day On Earth Tour. Washington will perform a full set as the only support on the tour which will visit most major Australian cities this November.

Washington is a collective of incredibly talented musicians, all members of the same inner-city Melbourne scene, and fronted by the enigmatic songstress Megan Washington – and the perfect vehicle for Megan’s sometimes dark, but always interesting, tales.

Washington was Unearthed by Triple J earlier this year and radio cuts such as ‘Clementine’ and ‘Cement’ have quickly confirmed Megan as a songwriter of some repute while touring with the likes of Tim Finn, Camille and Old Man River established her growing stature as a performer whose influences range from Paul Simon to Billie Holiday; Leonard Cohen to Radiohead.

Washington is a spinner of tales, teller of stories that create a world within a world. “I really love Lou Reed,” says Megan. “It’s very real – you could disappear into that world.”

Washington has just released her second EP ‘How To Tame Lions’. The EP is a stand-alone work of 5 tracks, each of equal merit. So much so that it features two A-side singles, ‘Cement’ and the lovely ‘How To Tame Lions’. The EP will be available at all of the shows listed below and currently through I-Tunes and good record stores.
